Despite your claims to the contrary, Indira Ghanda was very anti-Israel. During her term she made several anti-Israel speeches - I remember them - and India didn`t have diplomatic relations with Israel, i.e. didn`t even recognize Israel`s existence. I`m glad those days are over.

It`s a poor excuse to blame this stand on economic reasons. During those times Japan heavily relied on Arab oil and because of that Japanese officials sometimes made pro-Arab statements (such as Israel`s need to withdraw from occupied land) but Japan always recognized Israel and even traded with Israel.

And to you Jona, you might have admired this Indian leader but that doesn`t mean you should whitewash her.
