The film guys (understandably) try to boost their project as an important historical event. Yet without the American-born World Economical Crisis and the failure of so-called democratic politicians in Germany a radical party like the NSDAP would never have had a chance. At the last elections before the crisis it gained 2.5 % of the valid votes, in December 1933 33.5 %. The new-won voters presumably had not been suddenly convinced of the weird ideology: they simply had too little to eat. |
