| Too many people on this board attempt to build up a picture of the Pals (and in a wider context) Moslems as some demonic, insatiable force only interested in death and destruction. There are, of course, a few psychopaths among them, as there are in all nations. However, most want most of all to raise their kids in peace, security and dignity. If the Gaza withdrawl had been done in the context of an overall peace settlement that gave the Pals a viable, independent state and some kind of dignity, who knows what the result might hhave been. Instead Sharon explicitly withdrew because Israel didn`t want the hassle of defending the small Gaza settlemnts and wanted to concentrate on defending the big West Bank ones instead. You can`t expect Gazan gratitude for that. |
