| Obam thinks that terrorists are essentially motivated by poverty and despair. He seems to have no knowledge of the background of many, if not most, of the leaders of Islamic terror groups. Indeed, they are usually well educated and well connected. Nor do they act out of despair. Like all political movements, they act out of conviction. Their conviction happens to be radical Islam. They are not common criminals, but people who have taken the most extreme strains of their religion and started a political ideology with the intent defeating Western democratic traditions. They have an absolutist and supremacist view of their religion. |
