When a nations leader visits another nation, he always makes supportive and popular public statements, otherwise he would not have been allowed to visit in the first place. The real story is what is said in private between the leaders. I would guess that Gordon Brown had two main points to make in private. (1) Israel should halt settlement expansion (he also made this point in public, yesterday), and (2) If Israel attacks Iran, you are on your own. We will not be dragged into your private war.

It is obvious that the international community does not want a war with Iran, or we would not be seeing yet another round of useless sanctions being proposed by America. If Israel thinks that if they attack Iran, they will gain popular support from the international community, they may instead be listining to condemnations and watching everybody wait for the war to go its course.
