History tells us that the most brilliant leaders of the longest lived empires made a practice of making a friend of their worst enemy and then making him insure that the others toe the line. Having Israel as a friend is unhelpful to America. It seems that Israel only brings out the worst in the other nations of the region. Iran, on the other hand, has an impressive amount of influence in the region and inspires fear rather than hate from the neighbors. This is what makes a perfect policeman!
