| As a US citizen and Korean War veteran who personally recalls the establishment of Israel, I resent Israel`s attempts to control US foreign policy -- especially through an all-too-influential AIPAC. On a day when the world press is reporting the deal made by Israel with Hisballah to free prisoners heretofore deemed "terrorists" by Israel, it ill behooves Israel to criticize the US for sending a diplomatic representative to observe negotiations designed to persuade Iran to abandon a nuclear program which has been determined repeatedly by the IAEA to be restricted to lawful and peaceful applications -- and has determined by my Government`s latest NIE on Iran to be involved solely in peaceful non-weapons activities since 2003. World peace would be greatly enhanced were Israel to stop making threats of military strikes against Iran as well as actually conducting military strikes within Syria -- both activities which are expressly forbidden by the UN Charter. |
