Also true in the USA. My father, liberated from Mathausen, receives a regular survivor pension, but has not been successful in claiming any other help. There always seems to be an obstacle (e.g. missed deadline, must go through local community, income too high, etc). He needs new glasses ($200) but cannot afford it! There are so few survivors alive today. The solution is really simple: all medical/health/basic living expenses are paid for (regarding verified holocaust survivors). When there are no more living survivors, funds can go to more educational/community needs of the Jewish community. Simple! Easy! Direct! Fair!
