Finding a solution is not what`s missing here. We all know deep down that the Geneva Accords or Saudi Initiative or a permutation thereof is the only real answer.
The problem is the unwillingness and inability of both sides to tackle their own elements who reject any accommodation and who "want it all." In our case it is a rather small minority, yet with a huge influence in our society. In the Palestinians` case, I`m not so sure it IS a minority.
The continuation of hostilities (because we can`t really call it a war) is just indispensible to many: To the weapons industry, to the despots running Arab countries who have a convenient enemy in the form of Israel, to the Palestinians to whom it is an excuse to do nothing to improve their lot, to the religious fruitcakes who see their power grow on the backs of docile schmoes.
We don`t need to reinvent the wheel, Bradley. mls.lists@btinternet.com |
