| I can`t begin to understand the pain of the families of the dead Israeli soldiers. Of course they want them returned and properly buried. But that emotional desire for closure cannot be the basis for a policy of trading live terrorists for dead bodies - it will only take away any incentive the enemy has for keeping captives alive. That`s why so many sympathetic souls oppose this trade. Why is this so urgent? I understand the sacrifice for Shalit because he is alive. But the Israeli gov`t looks aimless and weak-kneed in its dealings with Hezbollah. Or rather, Olmert looks desperate for a deal, no matter the long-term cost. |
