Many cities and towns in the world from the Soviet Union to the US have been planned by folks with university degrees claiming to know better. Sadly most of them are failures, usually repeating the same design, creating souless city centers & asestheic monotony. The planet also holds many a town and city that have grown up organically, long before town planners began to experiment with the "Human Condition". Quaint & lovely French towns are built into the geography, embanking a river, town centers natural up-croppings of markets and cultural and religious centers. Karkur, a town of private farmers was long ignored by the social planners, thus it carved its way into the environment, and grew naturally & pleasantly. Today it has been discovered & we now play host to the mindless & boring academics who are forcing upon us the same tacky, boring neighborhoods where all the homes look alike with no thought of culture no natural social centers. Competing academics oy! |
