It is easy to look at things retrospectively, after the fact and come up with your triviality.
It is easy to see that the US could have finished WWII without vaporizing 500,000 Japanese.
But Ms. Analyst, you do not know in advance how things will turn out and you do your best to do the right thing.
If you knew any history, you should have known that the kidnapping was just the last straw in a series of unprovoked Hezbo raids since Israel completely withdrew from Lebanon in 2000 that killed 30 Israelis (in addition to 7 kidnapped and hundreds maimed) without any meaningful Israeli response. Someone had to say enough is enough.
The war could have ended well, but unfortunately we had terrible leadership and an unprepared army. The principle is that Hezbo is a terrorist organization and you fight them and not surrender to them. That is not going to change and next time things will end up rather differently. |
