Israel? Democracy?
As you pointed out, religion has done more bad than good for 2000 years. It took the West that long to learn the lesson that separation of Church/Synagogue/Mosque and state is essential to a true democracy.
Israel will be in danger for as long as she carries that chip on her shoulder that says religious dogma justifies her politcal ends. In this respect, she is imminently compatible with the now defunct Holy Roman Empire, and with current day radical Islam. |
