France has been a friend of the Arabs since long before America showed the slightest interest in the Middle East, the French Mandate preceeding even Bush by a few years.
"Islam is the antithesis of democracy, declares France self-righteously, and Islamic states should know their place."
A mixed metaphor at best, indicative of France`s confused thinking.
Why is it that big shot government leaders only think in terms of creating bigger and less efficient controlling bodies? Perhaps France should "know its place" and stop trying to suck the mediterranean union into the EU. Two separate unions might cooperate. But one "united" union will spend 95% of its time fighting internally. But, of course, non-resolution of issues is what politics these days is all about. |
