The cease fire is not only a trial period for Hamas, but also for Israel. So far Israel failed by provoking a Palestinian response when killing Islamic Jihad leaders. As long as Israel does not want a cease fire on the West Bank it is intentionally endangering the cease fire. I am surprised that in your article there is not a single word about Israeli provocations (also by killing Gazan farmers near the fence).
Israel ever failed in previous "trial periods" during one sided cease fires in 2001, 2002, 2003 and 2005-2006. Their history is the same: Palestinian groups kept it; all cease fires ended due to some extreme Israeli violence (bombing Shehadeh etc.) forcing a Palestinian response.
I am surprised that there is no reference to the fact that Israel is also "on trial". |
