It was developed so Peretz & Olmert could say they were doing something after Lebanon They handed over $300 million said develop something
Kassems have a short flight time and Iron Dome must detect the launch, track it & destroy it with an interceptor rocket. There isnt enough time between launch & land to intercept it
A kassem cost around $10 each & the terrorists have thousands of them usualy & launch 2-3 a time
Iron dome interceptors cost $30,000 each. Assuming it worked as planned and in a week the terrorists launched 3 rockets a a day over 7 days that means the total cost in a single week is $630,000 in just one week how long can we afford to use it
The money would have been better spent further developing of the THEL laser curently on a US test range which Israel invested $300 million in developing. In tests it succesfuly hit kassems & laser technolgy has evolved since Israel pulled out
The US also developed a rapid fire cannon being used in Iraq not perfect but cheap to use |
