Clickie,
The surrender of the Golan Heights is obviously the `sine qua non`, as the article relates in its last paragraph.
The peace model proposed in this article looks very much like the `Pax Americana` forged between Carter, Sadat and Begin in the late 1970s:
* Israeli withdrawal from occupied land. * A peace treaty brokered by the US. * US diplomatic, economic and military links with Israel`s former adversary. * The adversary`s severance of these ties with its former ally (in Egypt`s case, the USSR).
I`m not holding my breath, though. Bush is no Carter, and rarely fails to fritter away an opportunity for peace. But his rapproachment with N Korea is a hopeful sign, and perhaps the bloke will bend a bit on this, too.
Kind regards.
