| Even within the Haredi sector we are hyphenated! Chabadniks follow a particular outlook with origins in Russia. Us Yekkes follow a view coherently expressed in 80 volumes by Rabbiner Samson Raphael Hirsch of Frankfurt. Each Hasidic group, the Lithuanians and the varied Sephardi and Mizrachi Haredim etc have a different slant on Jewish life. That`s why some Haredim prefer to speak Yiddish, others Hebrew, others English or Yeshivish. Anglo-Jewish Golders Green Haredim who pusue various post-grad professions are quite different from some Israeli Haredim who don`t accept secular education and expect to be supported by others.All Jews are in some sense hybrid and/ or hyphenated. |
