First of all, all of you proclaiming that his kids will not be Jewish are a little misguided. It will probably be about 50/50, although the "Chinese Jew" will almost certainly grow up conflicted and is automatically not Jewish, nor will her kids be Jewish.

I am descended from a long line of assimilated American Jews. Not one of my ancestors married a non-Jew. Many took in American culture to the fullest, but that doesn`t go against their identity as Jewish people. People on this thread and possibly the author are using an incorrect definition of Jewish. Jewish people can be socialized into non-Jewish cultures and still be Jewish! I

Finally: to #10, Ulf: Your proclamation that Jews ethnically resemble the non-Jews they lived by is a little misguided. It`s very important that DNA not only establishes the uniqueness of particular groups of Jews, but even establishes a link between Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews...one much stronger than the links between them and the non-Jews they lived by
