"Do you know what happened in 1929???" You should have provided an answer to your own question. Hebron traditionally had a Jewish majority long before there were any Palestinians. That came to an end during the 1929 progroms, in which Arab mobs forced the Jewish majority out by force of arms. The Jews had the numbers, but the Arabs had the guns. I may not agree with the settler movement on all issues, but Hebron is most certainly Jewish.
