How could Israel be an apartheid state unless you admit that Judea, Samaria, and the Gaza Strip are Israeli sovereign territory? I don`t think that you want to go that far. I`m not sure if this law is discriminatory towards Israeli Arabs or not since I have heard that a foreign spouse of an Israeli citizen regardless of his/her religion has a really hard time immigrating to Israel unless the spouse qualifies under the Law of Return.
It used to be fairly easy for a foreign spouse of an American to immigrate to the U.S., but the system was abused when foreigners would marry an American abroad and then get a divorce after they got here so the rules have been tightened up a bit. Every sovereign country has the right to determine its own immigration policy.
There is no such thing as a "binational state". States are, by definition, uninational (if that`s a word). |
