| Jews and supporters of Israel need to be vigilant in arguing against this nonsense that somehow the Palestinians paid the price for the Holocause and are still paying it. In 1937 and in 1947, the Palestinian Arabs could have agreed to partition plans that would have given them the majority of Palestine. They refused. The war that led to the nakba was also initiated by the Palestinians and their Arab brothers. The Palestinians did not have to reject Barak`s offer of a state in Camp David in 2000. The Jews who came and built a state here, who cultivated unsettled land in places like Tel Aviv and the Jezreel Valley did not take anything away form them. In fact, the Jews settled primarily on the coast and in sparsely settled areas in the North to avoid confrontation. The Palestinians have paid the price for their agression, poor leadership, and complete refusal to compromise. Even had the Holocaust not happened, the outcome would probably have been similar. |
