| The ground work is not in place for a military strike. If it is done now, the Iranian people will rally around the regime. We must seriously woo the non-religious Iranians by making the case that when the ayatollahs go, ordinary Iranians get their freedom back. [Example: "Iranian Woman: wouldn`t it be nice to finally let your hair down?" "Why should ayatollahs tell me what I can and can`t do?"] Et cetera. In addition, strengthen Iranian exile groups, and connections between those groups and people inside Iran. Only when the groundwork has been put in place, will the Iranian people support an attack, just as Panamanians welcomed the US invasion to get rid of Noriega, and Iraqis grudgingly accepted the US invasion to get rid of Saddam. A major public relations campaign is in order, and it has not happened. Bush still has a few months: get it together. |
