We, the abused, know how to deal with being abused. Our various experiences with it are enshrined in our culture. We have barriers and caveats and workarounds of genius to show for it.
We tried everything and, when all the maneuverings proved fatal, did what comes most naturally to the world at large and punched our latest version of the perennial abuser in the face. Winning should turn the abused into a different animal, but it doesn`t.
The self-confident don`t need to push anyone around, draw attention to themselves. They find inside themselves the largesse to be able to give without expecting anything in return. They can relate to what is around them without the need to pilot or dominate, see monsters when they are real but don`t need to invent them. We have to make that transition. It will require a great deal of introspection and the will to break the mold. Addictions make you feel great while they are killing you. |
