Those of you writing here opposing arms sales to the Lebanese Army are obviously out of touch with how sharply Lebanese public opinion has swung against the Hizzies.
In their recent insurrection in Beirut, they showed the Lebanese finally that the only thing their "resistance" resists is state authority, and their arms are for violence against Lebanon.
Now they say they wont disarm if Shebaa Farms is returned - that was their last fig leaf and it has fallen.
Most Lebanese now want to destroy them, but the Army is outgunned. I agree that anti-tank misslies are wrong choice - give Lebanon a few squadrons of Apache helicopters and send then out Hizzie-hunting!
Wake up Isarel - just cuz u got burned in 82 doesnt mean u shouldnt support Lebanon`s government and help them become string enought to be a partner for peace. |
