Akiva Eldar is touching a very sensitive issue with his article.
Yes,indeed, there is a big danger, that thanks to the conduct of right-wing Israel and their supporters in the U.S., the Jewish people world- wide will end up once again as the "scapegoat" for possible security and even more economical troubles (sky-rocketing oil prices) over the next decades. More and more people do indeed regard (right-wing) Israel if not as the only, then still as an important source for the permanent unrest in the ME. Probably not so much when it comes to the conflict with Iran, but definitely when it comes to the Israeli- Palestinian conflict.
Will we ever see the day, when right-wing Israel and the right-wing Diaspora in the U.S. (AIPAC) will learn to understand, that they do have indeed a certain responsibility for the well- being of the Jewish community...???
Are a few square miles of land on the WB really more important than the reputation of the Jewish religion...??? |
