Israel would be getting two bodies of dead soldiers. Israel, in return, would be releasing live terrorists, including the child murderer Kuntar. Just a few days ago, reservists from an elite unit wrote a letter to the prime minister stating that they would not want to have their dead bodies be part of such an exchange. There is a very good public policy reason for never exchanging live terrorists for dead soldiers. The enemy has no incentive for keeping captive soldiers alive if it knows that it can safely kill them and get live terrorists for their bodies. |
