And I don`t know if the spoonful of sugar will help the medicine go down any easier, but it was a very nice column, with Bar`el covering some very honest truths with almost a Jon Stewart flair:
Israel negotiates with Hamas, Hezbollah and Syria even as it pretends not to. Israel will trade "terrorists" - hundreds of them - for one lone soldier captured by militants.
And in the end, a Hamas-Fatah unity government is going to be the best Israel can ever negotiate a peace with because that`s the only way to ensure all the factions that make up the Palestinian polity are on board.
The real disappointment for those of us that have been saying the same thing since the elections is that it took this long. It`s not as if many experts and observers didn`t predict these things eventually coming to pass.
Well, that and this article will go right over the heads most of the most right wing and ardent arm-chair pro-Israel warriors. |
