While the two lob inflamatory accusations and make headlines, they are really never able to close the loop. In the US there is a bad of nutjobs that go to funerals of US servicemen with signs saying "God hates fags", they make headlines too. So let us set aside the fact that these guys make the news.
They say things like AIPAC influences policy becuase it has "deep financial resources and heavy-handed tactics", but they never explain the mechanism of the influence that they claim exists. The Saudis have lot of money and they fund a lot of lobbying. The other Arab countries do too. They hire US lobbyists who tactics are no less heavy-handed than anyone else`s. If you thought AIPAC were the only ones playing hardball in DC, you`d be quite mistaken. In the end, study after study, pol after poll, shows that Americans generally identify with Israel and favor policies that favor Israel becuase they think there are common values and because they see that Israel is under constant attack. |
