| Israel developed its nuclear program under a veil of secrecy, with assistance from France and America. After Israel no longer needed the assistance of France and America Israel excluded them from access. To this day the entire world knows that Israel has nuclear weapons but nobody outside Israel knows the exact details. Iran, on the other hand, is developing its nuclear program in broad daylight. Ahmadinejad crows to the press at every milestone. He enjoys doing this because it irritates Israelis and Bush. Iran certainly has the same right to nuclear development as Israel does. In a way, Israels program seems more threatening because of the continuing veil of secrecy, refusal to join the international treaties, and because of the delight Israels military seems to take in exotic weaponry. |
