Clarifications:
1) Hassidim as a whole did not support Pindrus in the elections. Some groups did, some did not.
2) Any dog I`ve seen with the teens has been a small breed, and definitely not a bulldog or any large breed.
3) I myself was about to call to have the horse removed - for the sake of the poor horse! It was mostly being kept on the street, not a field, and it was being randomly kicked or punched by hyper young children.
4) During Pindrus`s term as mayor, there were programs, both formal and informal, for the wayward youth. People would go to the park and buy them pizza and chat with them or give an informal class. I remember one erev Pesach, one of the busiest times of the year, seeing all these Haredi men hanging out & trying to connect with them.
5) Most of the kids are pretty nice. Some are the children of olim who didn`t make the adjustment, some had really negative school experiences, some are from horribly poor homes, and some have bad parents. |
