| I like this article! Politicians have a nasty habit of making foreign policy statements geared for the electorate back home. Foreign policy statements made in haste during an election or otherwise, can come back and bite you in your dealing with the countries mentioned. Bush gave me fits with his Axis of Evil speech! He has been joined by Obama with his Jerusalem comment, and McCain with we must "win" in Iraq. In reality Jerusalem as a capitol for Israel and Palestine must be the product of bilateral negotiations. If they cannot agree the war continues for another sixty years. As to Iraq, the country belongs to the Iraqis and they must control it. Taking it out of the context of a military victory, Iraqis must win Iraq! |
