Once the Israelis agree to all of Syria`s preconditions, the Syrians will agree to direct talks to discuss the terms under which Israel will hand itself over to Syrian rule.
The Egyptians insisted on all sides returning to the internationally recognized border. The Syrians, however, insist on keeping land they gained control of through agression. Hardly a good starting point, when this is a precondition for anything, and everything, else. Israel should insist on the same terms that the Egyptians did. |
