The pyramids were built before Pharoes died. It is clear that this structure is also no more than the Mausoleum to memorialize the Jewish Community of S.F. For in two generations, with 90% intermarriage, high divorce rates, 1.4 children per Jewish mother and minimal Jewish education rates, the San Francisco Jewish Community is not regenerating itself.
Its current growth is solely due to immigration from other parts due to high-tech jobs; not from any natural growth.
So it`s a very sad moment to see this memorial erected. At least there will be a marker, even if the embers of the Jewish Community include former Jews who have converted to other faiths, or people of other cultures who make some reference to Hebrew Scriptures or people who simply claim to be Jewish-related.
Even the very concept of Jewish Art is vague: Is it art by Jews, art on something Jewish or art bought by Jews?
It`s obviously the scraping of the bottom of a faith-depleted and dry cultural barrel. Sad. |
