| Anyone who has illusions about Israel`s desire for peace need to have his head examined. If Israel was serious about peace, it would have jumped at the Arab peace proposal in 2002 where all Arab states agreed to sign peace treaties with Israel with full diplomatic, economic and cultural cooperation just for the return to the 1967 border. In less than 48 hours after the introduction of this proposal, Sharon reoccupied the West Bank and beseiged president Arafat in his compound until his final days. Israel and peace is an oximoron. The late president Nasser was correct when he once declared that "What was taken by force, can only be returned by force". It took the 1973 war to return the Sinai desert. Gaza for the Palestinians, and South Lebanon for Hizbollah is a case in point. |
