| 10 years of people demonstrating the need for equal treatment and yet there are still people pulling out their bibles condemning and not grasping the concept. These are the same people who seem to want to pick and choose which parts of the Torah they choose to observe. Desecrating the the Shabbat was also punishable by death. Eating with non-Jews was forbidden;in fact there are lots of laws that are not obeyed by so called religious people. What they fail to remember is that the primary law of the Torah is to respect your neighbor and in doing so you honor G-d. The Torah says, "fear the Lord" yet that means fear the absence of His presence. When one group denies another`s right to respect and joy, they are in essence denying G-d. The Pride Parade is a dynamic symbol of a request for respect and equality. It can be fun and celebratory as here in Tel Aviv or sombre and quiet as in Jerusalem; either way it is a powerful statement just for its` very existence. |
