| Ari Shavit, like most Israelis, does not understand military reality. The simple fact is that Israel is the dominant military force in the middle east, not the USA. In the end the USA will not use force to stop Iran because we simply lack the means to face the results. Israel can generate as many sorties over Iran 96 hours from now as the USA 96 days from now! Israel needs to publically identify its resolve. The best way to show that would be an emergency supplementary Defense budget designed to prepare the the IDF to minimize the cost of preempting Iran and rapidly and cleanly defeating Hezbollah, Hamas and Syria in the war that is sure to follow. Maybe then the world will take the necessary steps to prevent the use of force. Up to now Israels diplomatic-political strategy has been a total failure. |
