When I was an undergrad not so long ago I had the pleasure of being instructed by famed (at least in certain circles) "Straussian" professor Werner Danhauser.
Danhauser is portrayed in the novel Ravelstein as Morris Herbst: a good friend and like mind to Ravelstein (who was in fact the famed [I think his fame needs to qualifications] Allan Bloom, author of The Closing of the American Mind and other fine works).
Anyways, that semester Dannhauser was relying heavily upon a Palestinian grad student. I observed Dannhauser give an affectionate pat on the cheek to said Palestinian grad student.
Perhaps tribal grievances can be buried in a similar fashion?
I highly skeptical of this prospect myself but one can always hope. |
