| Not quite Sayid sorry. Long before the Caliphate in the 16th Century when Syrian Kings took over the Golan, it was historically Jewish since the 1st Temple Days. The area changed hands as regions usually did in those Ancient days until it came back into Jewish hands once more and was the last Jewish Stronghold during the Great Revolt 2000 years ago.After the Franco-British Agreement it belongedtoFrance until the French ceded it to the Syrians in 1944... and for 23 years the Syrians used it as a dumping ground until Israel captured it in 1967. Now for 41 years it is a veritable Paradise where Druze and Jewish settlers live harmoniously together. Furthermore at a Meeting just last week the citizens of the Golan maintain that if the land should ever go back to Syria, they will all pack uup and LEAVE. |
