Haaretz Service and Shmuel Rosner, Haaretz Correspondent: Top Kadima MK calls for elections date to be set

Title:"November" is an OK Time: We Need a Real Campaign Process

Ever since Ariel Sharon betrayed the voters of Likud, this country has been in a nightmare in which there has been no connection between democratic representation and ideology. Likud was ripped in half. Kadima is a fake party built on the smoking ruins of that maneuver by Sharon, supported by Peres. Labor has been by turns lead by Barak, Mitzni, Peretz, and now Barak again. Shas feeds like a vampire on the confusion and weakness of its victim: the Knesset. By turns the most improbable pairings have emerged: Dalia Itzik and Ariel Sharon, Lieberman and Olmert.

We need a real election in which Likud, Kadima, and Labor can explain themselves to the people. We need enough time for a real campaign, with real issues like Iran, education, and the economy.

Then we need to let the people hand the mandate to whom they will.

Anything less is a putsch.

Time works to the advantage of Likud: Europe is becoming serious (i.e. conservative) with respect to Russia. And so Israelis with Iran.
