| The unfulfilled pledge to deliver a letter from the abductee Gilad Shalit, is a simple yet highly instructive example on how to deal with the Damascus-Gaza regime. It is not possible to reach a peace agreement with an entity that will not honour its commitments, The very basis of a peace treaty or a cease fire agreement, etc., is the obligation to carry out the pledges made as part of the agreement. Working on agreements or understandings with entities that break pledges and commitments is counterproductive and is not compatible with Israeli (or US or European or Arab) interests. The Damascus-Gaza regime made the abrogation of past agreements one of the cornerstones of its policy. Their inability to carry out a pledge of even a small matter such as the Schalit letter is telling. Then again, what can Israel expect from an illegitimate junta that usurped power from the hands of it own people? Sympathizers and sycophants of this regime, e.g. Carter, can`t be taken seriously. |
