| Israel and Syria are doing this right. They started by taking simultaneous steps with each announcing the peace talks at the same time. Still, reasonable people can assume that both sides are not very sincere - Israel`s gov`t is unlikely to secure popular support for concessions on Golan and West Bank at the same time. Syria desperately wants international pressure and isolation lifted but seems set on preserving its worst relationships (Iran, Hamas) which it knows can`t exactly lead to peace with Israel. Still, rather than spouting off, we should watch and see what develops. |
