| Here in Canada the Foreign Minister has just resigned because he left some documents at his woman friend. There is not the slightest indication that he benefited financially or in any other significant way, but the Prime Minister decided that the lack of attention to duty and responsibility was sufficient to require the Foreign Minister to step down. We know that Mr Olmert has no shame. He has repeatedly demonstrated that he puts his own interests ahead of those of the country as a whole and particularly of the young people who look to the elders to demonstrate how to behave. The real shame here is of those Knesset members so afraid to give up their own seats that they refuse to kick him out. It no longer matters whether Mr Olmert is technically "guilty" or "innocent" of the latest allegations, the cumulative stench has become too great to tolerate. |
