| I agree that Judaism is not just a religion.n the other hand many of the seculare aspects of the Israeli state are not part of Judaism.When it comes to the secular legal system =, it is outside of the pale of Judaism. One might say that it is a conscious atempt to `liberate` ones self from Judaism . Therefore it has nothing to do with conversion. It has relevence to the law of citizenship. The heart of Jewish nationhood is its religion. Everything else such as language are butresses to the religious identity. This is avestige from the classical world whe religion was the centerpiece of ancient society. This vestige remains with us today. Thehomocentric revolution which was the main thrust of the French revolution and all other European revolutions that followed. That is the delema betweeen Zionism and Judaism.
