| If you think terrorism has nothing to do with this, you`re mistaken. Anorexia is a disease of control; it happens when (usually) a girl feels like the rest of her life is so out of control, that she controls her body to feel like at least that she can have some control over that. Right now Israeli kids are growing up feeling helpless, knowing that they or their families or friends can be ripped apart by a terror attack at any time; that their bodies or lives can be ripped apart and there`s nothing they can do about it. So the kids are reacting by (mostly boys) acting out violently against their peers in school, or (mostly girls) turning their feelings inward against their own bodies. Until the situation is corrected, until the kids can feel once again that their lives are protected, they will keep hurting themselves and each other like this. |
