A better question is, why do you think Mars ice cap movement tell us anything about earth in the last 100 years? Of course there are natural fluctuations - on earth and on Mars. But 1) Mars has a completely different atmosphere and climate system as earth. No scientists - not in Nature and nowhere else - claim that what happens on Mars explains the phenomena we are observing on earth in the last century (just read sentence one of the article: "Unlike Earth, where astronomical climate forcing is comparatively SMALL, Mars experiences dramatic changes in incident sunlight that are capable of redistributing ice on a global scale." 2) Earth also has natural fluctuations, but the current rates of change cannot be statistically linked to any natural phenomena that have driven climate change in the past. We are looking at rapid change with no covariation in any independent variables in nature. Read www.realclimate.org if you want to hear it from the experts. You can`t learn from talkback
