Before the short-sighted "rape" of the Amazon started in the 80s, the vast Amazon jungle served as the filtering lungs of the global air from excess CO2, cleaning it and maintaining our global climate balance.
Bulldozing this jungle has turned out lethal to us earthlings in many ways but one. Many medical plants were lost with mowing down the jungle; the Indians, as a protest, refused to reveal these plants and their healing properties against various illnesses, which the modern medicine keeps working on to discover maybe a 100 years or more. As small insects, which had kept the jungle´s eco-balance intact, died from extinction, the eco-balance was severly damaged. Rare bird-species have been lost forever and fauna affected, since they were evicted from their natural habitat!
Talking about CRIMINAL STUPIDITY!
Needless to mention that the BIG American bucks were behind the disappearance of the Amazon.
