It has been obvious for over two years that Israel would be facing three parallel fronts. However, the PM and the Labour Party had chosen an incompetent defense minister, while dreaming of an impossible peace to arrive.
The present DM has undoubtedly rectified many of the past problems. However, possibly the greatest difficulty facing Israel is the pressure and different demands of the international community. Israel needs a strong, decisive leader, one who is capable of withstanding such pressures.
At such a time of crisis, a national unity government would be perhaps the best way to proceed. Olmert`s pretension that he alone can lead the country is totally unacceptable. He is definitely not a Churchill, and it is time for members of his own party to say so. It is painful, to say the least, that politicians are more concerned with their own power than with the future of the country.
