- from different quarters defending the hezbollah move to abduct the soldiers. it was said then that the abduction was a legitimate attempt by hezbollah to get the lebanese prisoners in israel freed & their only chance to achieve that. there are only a handful lebanese prisoners & the abduction attempt at the time seemed more like an act of solidarity w/the pals in gaza, where a large-scale operation was underway in wake of the abduction of shalit. both abductions were agressive, unprovoked moves involving killing of israeli soldiers & they may even have been coordinated. again the hezbollah demand to have pal. prisoners freed shows that their main objective is as has been to mess w/israel over the pal. issue & not internal lebanese concerns & fears of a threatening neighbour, ie israel. |
