Arabic is the language of the Middle East. To those who wish to remove Arabic from the street signs, where do you think you are living? London?
For those of us who look forward to the day when Israel will be looked upon as an integral part of the Middle East, we look forward not only to tourists but to business travellers from Bagdhad, Damascus, and Riyadh navagating their way to the stock exchanges in Tel Aviv, their investments in Holon, their corporate home offices in Haifa and their diplomatic appointments in Jerusalem.
Arabic street signs will heip our Middle Eastern collegues who are our future friends. Someday there will be peace, and with peace will come more integration and interaction with the Arabs. English will likely diminish in significance. |
